Health & Wellness Grants Program

EmPoWER Somerset’s school health program provides funding to public schools (grades 6-12) in central New Jersey to implement  health and wellness actions through our partnership with Sustainable Jersey for Schools. The Sustainable Jersey for Schools Small Grants Program was established to help schools make progress toward Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification.

Funded health and wellness actions include:

  • Access to Healthy Water
  • Asthma Friendly School
  • Breakfast After the Bell
  • Healthy Food Choices
  • Policies to Promote Physical Activity
  • School Gardens
  • School Wellness Council
  • School Health Assessment
  • Staff Wellness Program

Additional Innovative Actions include:

  • A Protocol for Students with a Chronic Health Condition
  • COPE TEEN
  • Social-Emotional Climate and Culture Survey
